Program that scans corrupted WINDOWS files?
3 min read
You could try one of two things and see how you go…………….both if you care to, no harm done with each but the first will not issue you with a report.
Windows Protected System File Checker SFC
Start>Run
type:
sfc /scannow (note the space)
Have your Win XP installation disc handy as if damaged files are found they will need to be copied across from your disc, if SFC can't find correct copies elsewhere.
Windows XP Installation disc not available or wrong Service Pack ie SP1 when SP2 is needed
There are work- arounds to this problem but the easiest, by far is to borrow one and use that. It is perfectly OK to do this, for the purposes of running SFC,and if you ask around all your friends, you are likely to find someone who will be able to help you out.
Then for the other go to My Computer> open >right click on Properties >tools tab > check now > enable auto file system errors and attempt to recover bad sectors. Click start and you will be notified that this scan will take place on reboot. Click Yes and restart and the check will then run.
Hope this helps you solve any files corrupted or missing on your machine.
Keep us posted and post back if you need more assistance.

Hi ezra,Hellos!
lols that was a fast reply. I tried the 1st method, should be fine now. Scan the files and fixed it i think?
Er sorry again..but how do i double-checked or 100% know if all the files are totally not corrupted?
Thanks for the great help again from u guys!
I am glad the Windows Protected System File Checker SFC test corrected your problem - there is no report offered with it, but if you feel you have no other problems that would tell me that your worry is over for the time being.
How is your computer running now?
kind regards,
erm i actually referring to my old motherboard. Its like kinda old model and buying new RAM a not that worth the price.
Anyway since u asked…i have a question i wanted to ask again…can u teach me how to change my CMOS battery and where to get the battery from? Is the battery that the watches use?
Hello ezra,
Here is a link that sets out in detail how to change your CMOS battery - link gives you all information with pics of where to find the battery etc.
Happy to help, but do remember that Google is your very best friend on the internet.
