One of the people I work with asked me to take a look at their kid's computer, saying it wouldn't start up. After the POST messages, I just get a blank screen. I tried a repair install & it never found a windows installation that could be repaired. I booted from an NTFS boot disk & find that the Windows directory is there, but is empty! Any idea how this could have happened?

Probably an exercise in futility at this point. :scratch:

Will you be using the bootable CD to attempt to retrieve and backup data files?
If so, you should be sure to thoroughly Scan them for Malware.
