Hi all. Since re-installing my Windows XP, i've realised that if i have a picture, or an mp3 on my desktop, it doesn't show the .jpg or .mp3 it just shows the file name without the extention. Can this be sorted so it shows the extention again?

Regarding the .mp3's, they show a different logo now, they don't show this one: [external image: Posted Image] it shows another one. ill have to get a screenshot of what it shows later.

Thanks
Howdy bob Click on start menu -> select my computer From the top menu click on tools, select folder options, now click on the view tab and scroll down to where it says hide extensions for known file types and uncheck it. Be careful though… if you accidentally change the extension of a file you will not be able to access it until you change it back again. I myself would keep them hidden ! Regarding your icons, when you click on the files does Windows Media player open up as the default player for your music files or have you changed it to another program
Hi Hammer51, thanks for the file extension thing, worked a treat!

My files used to open with Media Player and still do, but they now have this logo:

(actual screenshot)

I just want them to have the normal Media Player logo again
