laptop acting up

I recently added a wireless internet card and router to my lap top. i turned it off and the next morning it would not load windows. the page that says starting windows also says "windows 2000 could not start because the following file is missing orcorrupt: \winnt\system32\config\systemced startup options for Windows 2000, press F8." it says that I can attempt to repair the file by starting Windows 2000 setup using the original setup floppy or cd rom and select 'r' at the first screen to start repair, but I put the disk in and can not find the r, and even when i press the r key it does nothing, can anybody help?

try leaving the install cd in the drive, then reboot the computer so hopefully it will boot from the cd.
