Well at least we know that system restore points are now working which was not the case before you ran the repair tool.
Some info and things to try when having problems with using earlier system restore points here

Ok, I'll try in a while an post a response you may chew over during breakfast.

Is all hardware working as it should be at the moment.
Seems to be.
If everything is working as it should be now is the ideal time to create a new system restore point so you 100% know for sure that you have a safety net should something again go wrong, Windows 7 is nearing its end of life support from Microsoft and sorry to say but many third party driver providers have already stopped releasing new Windows 7 drivers so the last thing that you need is Windows downloading and installing a bad driver on you that hoses your notebook, this happening any time would be bad but even worse if you did not have a recent/stable restore point.
