As my post says it is not working. Nothing in lock screen responds.& there are no pictures or spotlight etc.
I have tried all I can find on the web.
I have recovered a clean 1511 and upgraded to Creator. All work well except this. I think I should have done clean install to begin with.
I will be doing that today.
The first try to Creator s an upgrade ended up with reserved partition not responding - it was stuck at 22% - I know I do not nee it but that and a couple of other little issues occurred to suggest the upgrade did not work well. Then I tried another upgrade from a Macrium image which left me with a non functioning lock screen. I am bringing too much baggage with me so I will use the USB to boot to a clean creator.
Thank you for replying though and I will let you know how it goes..
I tried SFC 3 times then DISM in the order you should. I forgot how to use the last one which asks for the source.
I know it is looking for the file(s) on the installation media, but no matter how many times I watch the tutorial it does not sink in.
My system really needed a clean install as it would not defrag reserved as i mentioned, had this lock problem and other minor annoyances. Importantly I lost Windows mail which I like.
Since the clean install it is running much better, like new; thanks for replying.
May I ask do you use add/remove or a program like Revo?
I have a couple of clean images of Creator, updated, as I have 2 external drives and the laptop is gone. I replaced it with a Chromebook for my wife & it's the best thing I have done. The simplicity is amazing and suits her fine. There is no reason for an image as there are a couple of resets and a simple usb system recovery.
I have changed so I now use no cleaners like Revo, Wise uninstaller or Ccleaner. I think those are ok for experts who know what they are removing, I don't. I don't want to throw the baby out with the bath water so will use Windows new way to remove apps>settings>apps select to remove.
I know there will be some orphans but I would prefer that to dropping a valid file.
