Hello! :D My neighbor has Marine Aquarium Time, a screen saver from Serene Screen (hxxp://www.serenescreen.com/product/time-os9/index.php). It was working well, she says, until her son used her pc, now it displays sideways. The link for the download on the site wasn't responding. I saw online that others had similar issues. Ctrl + Alt + Up didn't work. Perhaps I didn't do that at the correct time. Can anyone help? :wavey: Kathy
Hmm. Not much information about this problem but appears a solution might be here: http://forum.soft32.com/windows/Screensave…pict357768.html

Sounds like its probably a screen resolution problem. Make sure the computer is running in the native resolution of the screen. The native resolution is important to LCD screens. It is the resolution that they were designed to run in and can be found in the documentation for the screen from the manufacturer. LCD screens are made to run in one resolution only, any other resolution will produce various results, most of which are blurriness in one way or another.
is it just the screensaver thats rotated 90 degrees , or is it the Icons and the mousse movement that have also rotated 90 degrees? they are both easy to fix.

It's just the screensaver. What shall I do? (She (and I!) will be thrilled if this can be fixed![external image: Posted Image]
Hi, sorry for delay. Iff you still havent solved this, try.. 1) open the screensaver inside Paint, rotate it 90 degrees, when save it and use it as your screensaver. 2) scra the screen saver and use another one. B)
This "aquarium" type screen-saver utility interacts with the computer much the same way that a "video game" displays the game background, using directX or open-gl, plus the graphics card or onboard graphics chip, the CPU and possibly RAM to produce the display.

Any changes made to update or adjust the machine's Display Adapter may impact the display of the screen-saver.
"Other people" using an owner's machine are notorious for making adjustments to facilitate the task they wish to perform (e.g. game playing, viewing a video, etc.).
Such "other people" sometimes don't consider that new settings they may put in place could also (and sometimes negatively) impact the owner's other routine functions and preferred used of the machine. After all, the adjusted solution worked to display the game/video/etc. Right? But the other person may have had to use procedures to "force" a roll-back to a prior version of DirectX, or update/mod of display adapter to address their specific needs.

It could help to have your friend inquire with the other person, though the most frequent reply is "I didn't really do anything." Right.

There are (3) "most-likely" factors involved

1. Screen Resolution (already recommended by Appleoddity)
2. Video Graphics Adapter card settings
3. Corrupted Screen Saver files

RE: 2…
Inquire with the other user about the possibility reversing any changed settings or installed utilities.
or
Use the graphics adapter control panel to return settings to Default.
or
Uninstall/Reinstall the graphics adapter Drivers

RE: 3…
The screen-saver utility files may have become corrupted. If so, the recommended action would be to uninstall/reinstall the screen-saver utility.

MA3 provides specific instructions for uninstalling prior to freshly installing the aquarium screen-saver.
http://www.serenescreen.com/support/faq.ph…d=64#faq10_1721

Note: the owner will need to supply the Product Key to activate the screen-saver after reinstalling.
Belarc Advisor may help discover the product key that is currently installed.

Also note: This screen-saver is not a static image, nor even a series of static images, and therefore will not be able to be opened in Paint or any other image viewer. Instead, it is a program onto itself, interacting directly with the computer once installed. Therefore consider the recommendations above.
Hello, Doug!

It could help to have your friend inquire with the other person, though the most frequent reply is "I didn't really do anything." Right.

 Right on target!

Thank you! Where can I find the graphics adapter control panel?
Kathy, You can probably access your graphics adapter features via - Control Panel - Nvidia Control Panel 0r -Nvidia nView Desktop Manager (if your machine uses nVidia) But now comes the question: Will you know what to look for and recognize any changes undisclosed by the opportunistic user? _____________ If not, a better recommendation may be to simply uninstall and reinstall the Display Adapter Driver via - Device Manager Go to the Display Adapter manufacturer's website to download the correct driver before launching any action to uninstall/reinstall. I sympathize that this is a major undertaking to remedy a possibly minor annoyance. (and I know that "minor" is in the mind of the beholder) I doubt I will be able to answer any more specific questions without having quite a bit more information about the machine. PCPitstop Full Tests may be a good place to start, if you wish to provide a link to more information. (I think you are already familiar with that overview tool?)
It also might be more direct to simply uninstall/reinstall the Screen Saver. (remember: You'll need the product activation key) If the Screen Saver finds that the machine's settings are not appropriate for its correct function, it will probably "complain" to you with an alert during installation. That alert may give you a clue as to what to look-for/change in the graphics settings.

The link for the download on the site wasn't responding. Perhaps she should just get the newer version of that screen saver!

I found all that on my pc, thank you! I'll go check out hers. Perhaps I should run the display optimization wizard? Or rotate her display so that the screen saver is upright but the desktop is sideways? [external image: Posted Image]
