mver,

Great. Let's clean up so you can get on with your life.

Time for some housekeeping
  • Click START then RUN
  • Now type ComboFix /Uninstall in the runbox and click OK.
  • Note the space between the X and the U, it needs to be there.
  • [external image: Posted Image]
The above procedure will:
  • Implement some cleanup procedures.
  • Reset System Restore.

Now to remove most of the tools that we have used in fixing your machine:
  • Make sure you have an Internet Connection.
  • Download OTC to your desktop and run it
  • A list of tool components used in the cleanup of malware will be downloaded.
  • If your Firewall or Real Time protection attempts to block OTC to reach the Internet, please allow the application to do so.
  • Click Yes to begin the cleanup process and remove these components, including this application.
  • You will be asked to reboot the machine to finish the cleanup process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.

You can go ahead and delete the .bat files or any .txt files left on your desktop

Please re-enable any security that was disabled.

The following is my standard advice for the future. Use what you can and pat yourself on the back for what you're already doing.

Please take time to read Preventing Malware - Tools and Practices for Safe Computing. Very important information for your consideration is contained therein.

I would also suggest you read this:
So how did I get infected in the first place?
by Tony Klein

Also: "How to prevent malware"
by miekiemoes

Please respond back that you understand the above and let me know if you have any questions. Otherwise, this thread will be closed Resolved.
Mr. Tony Klein, are you still helping people out from the Netherlands? That's so cool! Do you wear a mustache like in yMour avatar? Well, you did it again! Chalk it up as another success story. My old computer is running like if full of viagra… lol Hope this thread helps others with similar issues. I've already read all the articles that you suggested and I'm telling you, most computer users don't know half of the information presented there. I've been very lucky not only for never having serious PC issues in 10 yrs of surfing, but for having found you in this site. You are awesome! I'll support this site on your account. Keep up the unbelievable job you're doing, my trusted friend. If there's anything I can do for you in the future, please let me know without hesitation. Can you access my email from my information here? All the best, Mauricio Vergara
Tony Klein is still active… though I don't think he is actually working logs any more. He does the lions share of the work keeping tabs on the Malware databases that we use to help identify infections. I have no idea if he has a mustache (or if he resembles Inspector Clouseau like his avatar). He is one of the pioneers of malware removal… but I have never met him in real life. I've talked to him on the forums a few times but that's it. "Friends" on the forum is a bit different. We get pretty "close" to each other, but in most cases we have no idea what each other looks like, often we don't know where they're from, and we usually don't know what they do in real life. No. I don't have access to your email. I can send a private message here on the forum, but giving strangers access to your email on a forum would be a security risk. You are very welcome. Good luck and be well.
