Hi i have a compaq WF 1907 monitor and whenever i turn my computer off and on it changes the resolution from my normal resolution 1440x900 to 1366x768. When i go to my resolution page it says that i have a Generic non PnP monitor. If i leave it for a while though the computer will detect my monitor and return it to its normal resolution, but as you caould imagine waiting for it to change back is very irritating. Thanks for any help! :D
1440 x 900 is max. resolution for this monitor. I have a very good Samsung and I never use it's top resolution.

To avoid any further irritation, why not set it at 1366x768 as your monitor seems more comfortable there and it would be very difficult to spot the difference anyway?

Trying to work out why it is doing what annoys you is really beyond this forum I think and your best action would be to take the matter up with the Manufacturer as I'm sure it is still under warranty. Compaq Support.

Generally, monitor elements are not involved with the display resolution of the O/S. (Operating System) It's your video card/capabilities which govern your display resolution. Example; If you have an nVidia graphics card (added in or built in) you would use this to change the resolution. (Given that the drivers for that display device are loaded.) Right click on an "empty" area of your Desktop and choose Properties. Under the Display Properties window, click Settings. This is where you should make/save any changes.
