Webcam driver installation on my LG laptop (vista) gets stuck at the vsnp2std.exe stage. Have tried several times, with two webcams (with installation cds), but the process stalls at 'installing' vsnp2std.exe file. No error messages. Any solutions?
If it came right down to it, you could try a totally different brand of camera.
The first thing to try, is to use the newest software downloaded from the manufacturer's website. The software on the CDs tends to be outdated.
If it still doesn't work, you should make sure your anti-virus software and other security software is disabled before trying to install it.
You can also try using msconfig (start -> type in 'msconfig' in search box) to disable services and startup items temporarily. CLick the services tab, check hide all microsoft services and click disable all. Next click the startup tab, and click disable all. Apply your changs and restart the computer. Run msconfig again and put the system back into normal mode, under the general tab, after you have tried installing your webcam driver again.
