I've got my uncles' Lonovo Ideapad Y530 and every time I shutdown and/or restart the connection option for a router goes from auto to manual connect. What is causing this and how can it be fixed?
Hi riverwind… I think I know what you are talking about, but I'm afraid your question is a little too vague to be sure.
Do you mean that in control panel -> network connections, your settings for TCP/IP keep switching to manual? If so, what numbers for IP address, subnet, gateway and DNS keep popping up?
Please be more specific about exactly what you are clicking on when you experience (or realize) this happening.
I would suspect that the Lenovo has its own wireless management utility, as most laptops do.
My personal preference is to uninstall or disable that software and allow Windows to handle the wireless connection.
If by chance you do have a third party wireless utility installed, I would suspect that your answer lies there.
Yep that was the problem. I uninstalled the software that was causing the problem and the laptop is now connecting automatically with out problems. Thank you for the quick responses.
