I have a Packard Bell sw51-120, with windows xp. Few days ago i started up my computer but it just stayed stack after the windows loading screen. I said that i am going to format, and i put in the windows xp cd. I boot up using the cd and waited until the hardware specification inspection was done. Just before the iinstallation of windows tried to start, i had a blue screen appear with the error 0x0000007b. Since then i can do nothing. I cant run on safe mode, i tried another hard drive to intall windows on it but nothing at all, i tried if the memories that i had 2x512 but nothing at all. The hard drive i have is an Ultra-ATA/100. Anyone any ideas??? PLEASE ITS URGENT!! THANXXX
Hello kontos99,

And welcome to WTT Forums.

This Stop Error 0x0000007B can be caused by:

Boot Sector Corruption
Failed IDE Controller Driver
Boot Sector Virus
Hardware failure (a failed HD or failed HD Connector/cable)
BIOS setting does not correctly recognize the HD
____________________

Since you have already attempted to Reformat, and have even tried a second Hard Drive with the same failing results, your problem is most likely down to:

Your Hard Drive is not being correctly recognized in BIOS/SetUp
or
Hard Drive "connection" is improperly inserted or connection is damaged
_____________________

Check the settings in the machine's BIOS to be sure that the Hard Drive is correctly Recognized
or
Select to reset BIOS settings to Default or Fail Safe settings
___________

If BIOS Default Settings do not allow you to recognize, format and install on a known good Hard Drive, then the connection or fitting of the Hard Drive is damaged. Or the Motherboard chipset is damaged.

Use good care and careful inspection when inserting your Hard Drive and be sure that it is full inserted and firmly connected.
________________

It's hard to imagine that "one day the problem appeared" and format-reinstall and New Hard Drive both fail to resolve your problem.

There would have to have been:
Physical damage (dropping or impact to the machine)
Water Damage
Electrical damage caused by power supply failure or electrical surge.
___________________

The most "hopeful" situation is that your BIOS lost its settings and resetting to correct or Default Settings will resolve your problem

Do you have any additional information about what may have occurred to this machine directly before the problem appeared?
New hardware installed?
Physical Damage?
