problem during install office 2007

Hi Guys during installation setup of office 2007 it gets about half way through the first part then i get an error msg 1714, and tells me cannot remove older version of microsoft office 2007. i have not installed 2007 i have on my laptop 2000, please can some one help, ( i am a bit of a novice) thanks brgds tuxedo :pullhair:

Have you tried installing it before this attempt? If you do not complete an install, it is recommended to make sure it is not listed in Add/remove programs.

I wonder if it may be related to the service pack that comes out in the updates for system compatibility to office 07, it is to let office 2003 etc handle the 07 file types IIRC, try uninstalling that in the add\remove and see if that helps.

well guys, all is well i forgot i had tried to install before and shut it down before completion, it had installed one note and would not remove that so i went to custom install and unchecked one note then the install completed, really great thanks for the help ans suggestions. happy once again tuxedo :thumbup:
