I am not able to open any microsoft website from IE6 or mozilla 3.0.3…I suspect a malware… I have just reinstalled windows and did not expect a malware coming in so fast…
I am able to open all other sites without any problem except microsoft.

One more issue here is my computer just hangs in between or freezes at the "Saving your settings" window when attempted to RESTART or SHUTDOWN.

Also My Bitdefender Refuses to update. It gives the error "An error occurred during the update(Invalid Proxy or server settings)"

All these issues seem to have the same reason because they started at the same time which is why i suspect a malware which is causing the problem.

I have a good configuration

OS: Windows XP SP2
3GB RAM, Core-2 Duo 2.0 Ghz Processor, 250 GB Harddisk so have enough space available.
Antivirus: Bitdefender Total Secuirty 2009.

I dont understand what could be the problem.. Please help me cuz i dont think reinstalling windows will make any change.. The problem can come again so i need to take some prevention measures.

The HJT log is here

Hi, and Welcome to WhatTheTech :)

Apologies in the delay in a response. We are overwhelmed with logs at the moment and there aren't enough helpers to go around. If you still require help, please do the following:

Please download DDS and save it to your desktop.
  • Disable any script blocking protection
  • Double click dds.scr to run the tool.
  • When done, DDS.txt will open.
  • Click Yes at the next prompt for Optional Scan.
  • Save both reports to your desktop.
—————————————————
  • Post the contents of the DDS.txt report in your next reply
  • Attach the Attach.txt report to your post by scroling down to the Attachments area and then clicking Browse. Browse to where you saved the file, and click Open and then click UPLOAD.
Please describe how your computer is behaving at the moment, listing any symptoms and problems that you are experiencing.

Thanks.
