CPU problem

Since a week or sow my computer doubled in slowness. It affects everything, My PC doesn't play sound in a normal way anymore (it sounds like the sound is streched, even the windows statup tune sometimes has a duration of 10 sec) copy paste etc goes really slow etc. I don't know what's wrong can anyone help me? First of all we are glad you have choses WTT to post your problem.

We do not analyse HJT logs here on this sub-form, this is the tech side of WTT, but posting your startup folder was a great help. There are far too many startup items optioned to start at bootup so we need an overall scan of your system to help you completely.

As you can see by clicking on the Fix tab, there is much work to do and only you can follow what has to be achieved to get your system running to your satisfaction. To do this you need to follow all the underlined options of each and every one of the suggested fixes. Also continue to click the tabs at the top of your results and attend to all the underlined options offered to you.

Please leave your Drivers at this stage as I can give you a free link to update them at a later stage. If you do it through the PCPitstop link you will be charged for them. Alternatively you can go to your Manufacturers web site and update them, but at present they are not the very first priority as I see it.

One of your biggest chores is to reduce the space on your drives so you can defrag them as I see it.

Ok, so I need to do all the things in the list but not yet the drivers. But is this my major problem? A week or so ago the slowness of the PC very abruptly doubled or tripled, isn't thi because some program or virus that starts up is taking up all my memory? Thanks a lot so far

Could you please check the following:

Right-Click "My Computer"
Select Properties
Select Hardware –> Device manager

Find the entry for your Primary IDE Channel
Right-click and select properties
Advanced tab

See if the Computer is set to PIO or DMA mode.

Change to DMA if PIO is selected.

I can't change to DMA, there's a menu that says 'only PIO' or 'DMA if available'. It's set to DMA if available, but the box right below says current mose PIO. By the way: what is DMA and PIO? Thanks Wouter

Google can tell you what DMA (Direct Memory Access) and PIO (Programmed Input/Output) modes are. WikiPedia is a good source for these kinds of questions.
