HID Service

I can't start the HID Service - Microsoft did their thing and said to contact HP. Is there another way???

I enabled it and tried to start it on my XP Pro + SP3 system and got Error 2, module not found. Is that what you get (you didn't really give any info on what happens when you try to start it). Event viewer had error 7023.

A Google search gets lots of hits though, perhaps one of them will help: cannot find file 7023 hid

Sorry for the lack of info - yes that is what I get (Error 2 - cannot find specified file)

Everything I was able to find on this indicates it requires 3rd party hardware/software to use.

Nope, a keyboard with hot buttons uses HID. Read t his thread, see if the registry hack works for you:
