:o My laptop has suddenly developed a dark streak down the center of the screen. It's just like a shadow about 2 inches wide where the screen isn't as bright as the rest. I can see through it OK, but it's annoying. Any ideas what the problem is? Thanks
Hi Ladyg,

Is your Laptop new? has it a current warranty?

Give us more to work with, what model especially and more specifications.

You could download SIW.exe which would tell you about your Laptop in detail. Scroll down on the site and "download 3k mirror recommended".

Please post back with more information about you system.

kind regards,
It is most likely the inverter. They cost from about $66 to $130, and take about 1 hour of experienced labor to replace. But, as tallin suggests, if under warranty, that is your first call.
Thanks, Tallin and Digerati, for your replies. :)

Unfortunately my laptop is three years old and out of warranty. I downloaded SIW.exe as you recommended, and here is what it detected…
