I've been having a never-before-seen dialog box named "Server Busy". In it: "This action cannot be completed because the other program is busy. Choose 'Switch to' to activate the busy program and correct the problem."
3 buttons: "Switch to…" "Retry" & "Cancel"
The "switch to" opens my start menu and that's it, nothing happens. Sometimes the Dialog box appears again, and I press again.. this can go on for 4-5 times before it simply ends. Sometimes, on click and that's it.
This seems to happen whenever Internet Explorer is being accessed even though my default browser is Firefox. Any help would be greatly appreciated on how to fix this issue.
Hi
Sorry to hear of the problem with your machine, this can sometimes be caused by malware.
I see that you have recentl;y had an HJT logfile analysed by LDTate over on the malware removal forum, if that is the same machine then malware can be ruled out………..unless it started after you received the "all clear" from him.
1 Download process Explorer from here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/sysinternals/bb896653
2 It will help you identify the application program/ service that is causing the problem.
3 You may be able to see which service svchost.exe has open that is initiating the "server busy" dialog box.
4 An uninstall of the culprit, then a restart and fresh install of the application concerned may do the trick

Hi paws,
Thanks for your reply and taking time to read this thread. This computer is the one that JDTate reviewed and OK-ed so I think I can rule out spyware. From what I can see, it seems that iexplore.exe is tied to this problem. Is there any way I can repair Internet Explorer?
Hi
Did you have no joy with Process Explorer?
To repair IE try this:
Start
Run
Type in
sfc /scannow
Ok
The SFC will check all protected windows System Files, if there are any missing or damaged it will attempt to repair, so have your Microsoft Windows Installation disc handy as SFC may need to copy over good copies of the damaged/missing files.
If you don't have the disc then its OK for this particular purpose to borrow one from a chum…just make sure its the correct version with the same Service Pack as your machine.
The SFC will only take approximately 20 minutes or so to run, but there is no output file so watch its progress, if you want to monitor what its doing!
