I recently had an infection by Trojan.Vundo, and perhaps other malware, which appears to have been fixed from help from this forum (thanks Scotty). However, since that fix, I now experience somewhat regular lockups (i.e., c:\…… not responding) with Windows Explorer when running other programs such as Truecrypt or ACDsee. To continue, I have to do a crtl-alt-del to quit and restart Explorer. Any suggestions would be helpful. Brian
You can use windows sfc (system file checker) You'd need your XP CD to make this work.
Click Start> Run> type sfc /scannow Note the space.
(Note that there is a space between sfc and /scannow)
I am currently running XP-SP2. My original XP CD is the pre SP1 version, so I used a slipstreamed version of that CD with SP2 for the check. An error popped up about a dozen time indicating to insert the original windows xp cd, so I just hit retry and it seemed to continue. When finished, the program just stopped - it did not give any message(s). Is this normal? Thanks, Brian
