My Windows Vista was crashing multiple times every day for about 2 weeks, until I downloaded the new service pack: it usually crashed after hibernation/sleep. Now it freezes a couple times a week , sometimes producing a high pitched squeal. At one point, TrendMicro just up and died when it automatically updated itself; and I think a virus attacked at some point between when it died and when it restored itself back to a previous state.
I downloaded SpySweeper and HijackThis and located 2 Trojan viruses in C:\Windows\Downloaded_Internet_something_folder and found the contents could not be deleted. I tried deleting the whole folder and the computer said I didn't have permission… running progams in Safe Mode: still couldn't delete them.
