I have word documents copied from floppy disks to my desktop. I know the documents are infected with the W97M/Ded virus so I have not opened the word documents as this would infect my PC. I am using XP and I know my PC is not infected. I want to edit these files but I need to remove the W97M/Ded virus from them first. It was detected by my AVG 7.5 but it is unable to heal the infection. I have stinger also, but it is unable to even detect the infection. Have you got any ideas on a scanner/ removal tool to remove this W97M/Ded virus from these unopened word documents? I would like a freebie if possible. Something I could download online I need to clean the files as opposed to deleting them. Have you any ideas? Thanks Nigel

Sorry about the delay in responding :(

If you still need help, Scan again with HijackThis, and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
Is there a HijackThis website that will scan my infected files? Or is HijackThis software that I need to download? My computer is absolutely fine, it is the ten word documents that are stored on my desktop ( which have not been opened ) that need to be cleaned. Can you give me some more information about HijackThis because I have never heard of it and do not know what it is. Thanks for your reply regards Nige
