Help!

I would power down and unplug (or hit master power switch on back of PSU) for about 15 seconds, then fire it up and temporarily disable your firewall and try again. If able to connect, you know it is your firewall. If unable, then something else. In either case, re-enable your firewall right away and let us know.
How do you connect to the Internet?
I too have issues with the new AVG 8.0 adding unwanted stuff - it seems to be a trend in the anti-malware industry to force folks toward the maker's suites - which I think is a security risk by itself. However, I reinstalled AVG 8.0 paying careful attention to the prompts so you can opt out of all those resource hogging extras foisted on us and it seems to be fine.
thank you so much!
I do this and get back with you.
As for AVG and all the extras, well they come with the download - so it is during the install process you have to watch out for. If looking for AVG 8.0 Free, see: AVG Free.
