hi can anybody help me please ? my pc seems to be infected by a worm im not sure what a worm is as i dont know very much about computers at all.
It started when i tried to switch my pc on last week, once the pc was on a box came up on my screen that said windows was gonna shut down and restart in 1 min, as i wasnt sure what it was i just left it and thought that once the pc had restarted everything would be ok, but i was wrong as everytime it restarted the same box kept appearing untill a friend of mine told me that the best thing to do was as soon as the pc came on to go into the start menu then into run and to type in cmd, i did that and waited for the black box to appear and then typed in the box shutdown -a
that made the shutdown box dissappear but its still causing me a problem as now i cant really access my internet very well as every site i go on after less than 2 mins any page i go on just says its not responding, my friend said a worm is what is causing the problem and he advised me to come on this site as he has had some help off this site before, so any help would be greatly appreciated as i dont know what else i can do to get rid of this worm and i dont know how i have ended up with it.
I do have avg anti virus but that has obviously not got rid of it and i have scanned my computer with reg cure to clean up all my registers, but that doesnt seem to haver made a difference either.
Im so stuck on this and i have not got the slightest idea what i can do, so please if anybody has ever had this problem before or just knows how to rid the worm then please let me know. thanks. emma.
