access denied

I was trying to download windows sp2 for XP when it pop up access denied. i used my spysweeper to clean up. I dfragmented and did a disc cleanup. There was one item that spysweeper was unable to quarentine. Could this be the problem? I ordered the sp2 disc by mail. Do you think that i will be able to download sp2 with the disc. Any help will be greatly appreciated. venus

When you get your SP2 disc you will be able to install SP2 without downloading it all over again.

However if Spysweeper is indicating that you have malware already present, that cannot be quarantined, then please don't try to install SP2 onto an infected machine….. as that can produce a lot of problems :
You will need to have (amongst other things) a perfectly clean machine before attempting to install SP2.

You can post an HJT log on our malware removal forum: see the following link for further information and follow the instructions carefully. A malware fighter will respond and give you detailed advice and instructions on exactly how you should proceed.

Please don't post your HJT here in this sub forum as we don't analyse them here, but once your malware fighter tells you those wonderful words like " your log looks clean" then post back here in this subforum if you need help with installing SP2 and we will do our best to help
