Did you actually enclose the command in double quotes or was that just for posting here? The command has to be typed in without the double quotes, actually both of the commands I gave you should not have double quotes around them.
When you say it was fast this last time, do you mean IE was starting fast like it should?
slow this morning after 4 hrs of no use
fast this evening after 10 hrs of no use
I entred the code without quotes:
netsh winsock reset catalog
IT was accepted…I restarted puter as ordered by promt.
the next code :
netsh int ip reset reset.log
got the follwing response:
the following command was not found
entered each code at same prompt at different times
BUT puter was slow this morning not this evening
??????
Don't know why. Try running the following command when the system is working right and when it's slow, then compare the outputs, see if you can spot any differences. Post results here if needed.
netsh diag gui
This will start the GUI Network Diagnostic Program, which I hope is self explanatory.
RESULTS of network dignosis
Internet Service
Default Outlook Express Mail PASSED
Default Outlook Express News Not Configured
Internet Explorer Web Proxy Not Configured
MODEMS PASSED
You missed a bunch of data. You need to expand each + and then each + under what you expanded. There is a lot of data. Once you have everything expanded, use the "Save to file" button. This will place a Netdiagxxxxxxxx.htm file on your desktop.
Do this when the computer is working correctly and again when it's running slow, then compare the results and see if you can spot any differences.
I wanted to thank Ztruker and Tallin
my computer is having less problems I was sick for awhile so did NOT get back to ya
I sorry
I did a few of your suggestions in Dec.
and in Jan the puter began accessing the net most of the time
it was slow ONLY twice in past 10 days
which is a large improvment
