How do you find out about megahertz in your pc?
We want to use an sp2 disc and the article at M.S. said the machine needed at least 233 Megahertz. I think that was the figure.
After the disc arrives we will be back for some advice.
I got the disc two years ago and went to the M/S. site and read all the tips and my installtion was a success, luckily. We are getting the disc b/c we were told it is better than the download.
Thank you for your help
click start, then programs, then accessories, then system tools, then system information…look for the line that says "processor" your processors speed should be listed there
also….if you're running XP….your processor is probably already above 233 MHZ …don't quote me on this but i think the last processor anywhere near 233mhz was the pentium 1's and pentium 2's the pentium 3's started out at 450 mhz…so unless your computer is EXTREMELY old….it's probably far beyond the 233Mhz range and honestly…i've seen a machine with a 300mhz processor running XP…it's not a pretty thing (my last computer was a 667mhz p3 and it ran XP like a bear….horrible performance…but it was designed for 98)

It is the same file so it is not better than the download in that respect. But, it is MUCH easier than the download because you don't need to connect to the Internet, expose yourself to the very threats SP2 protects you against, download it (which can take hours on dial-up), then save it to some location where you can later access and install it. Whenever I have to reinstall someone's Windows, I always IMMEDIATELY install SP2 from the CD, before ever thinking of connecting to the Internet.
Oh, and right clicking on My Computer and selecting properties would have told your CPU model and speed, and RAM too.
