Urgent help reqd. The icons on my desktop have replicated 3 times. Icons in Control panel 5 times. All Programs everything around ten times . The computer is slowed to walking pace. Task bar has 30 icons of the same prog. Virus checker working, done scans. No solution System restore won't work Dell have no idea neither have other forums come up with a solution or reason. One cause could by my wife. She was meddling with files over the weekend and may have caused the trauma. Help much appreciated Thanks Dillon1
Hello Dillon1 and welcome to WTT!

Sounds like a perplexing issue you are dealing with. You can use a program called Duplicate File Finder (DupFiles) to determine the duplicate files on your system. The nice thing is that you can specify the directories to search in, such as C:\Program Files. You can also delete the duplicates with this program, but be careful to only delete the ones you know you don't need. If you are unsure, you can save the output as a CSV file and we can help you out with it.

Maybe you could give us a little more information about the situation. Could you give us some screen shots of the duplications? What program is in the taskbar 30 times? Does it come up without you opening it? Any and all information available to you about the issue would be good to post.

Thanks,

Ax
Hi Ax Thanks for the advice. It won't give me screen shots, doesn't work for some reason. If you want to look remotely i'm happy. The 30 icons on the task bar are for a Pocket Cam 3 mega monitor - cheap digi camera. Yes it comes up without being asked i'll download the Dupfiles prog tomorrow & save as CV if neccessary. Quite bizarre. I'll continue trying to get screen shots. Best regards dillon1
