I think you are attempting to Run Media Center output from an Onboard Graphics Adapter. That should probably work, but you may be limited in the types of Connectors available. When connectors do you have available on your machine?
OK. What features are not available to you? I'm thinking that WMP and other media players have about all the features that you could anticipate for DVD/Video display. Media Center features are related to exporting the display to other hardware, like a stereo/TV/Entertainment center. Some of Media Center features are related to Cable/Satellite reception. You would need a TV Tuner Card to obtain/create connectivity to television channels. However, there are other methods of receiving TV on your computer. I use SlingBox via ethernet cable to enable my Son in Thailand to view TV from here in California. There are other hardware components you can add into your system, but we'd need to take them one at a time depending upon what your goal was. So again. What features are you wanting, that don't seem to be available right now? Best Regards
After reading a bit, it looks like MCE 2002 had some problems being compatible with machines that were not specifically constructed with components specific to MCE. The MS updates may have resolved "some" of the issues, but it wasn't until MCE 2005 that Microsoft starts describing MCE as suitable for custom built machines or for installation on machines not specifically built for MCE. I don't know if you are experiencing "compatibility" problems, or if you just had a bad install and could benefit from uninstall/reinstall of MCE operating system. In the meantime, your MCE may not search for all the various media file types that MCE is supposed to catalogue into playlists. Google may be your friend for researching this problem. But I've done a few searches showing that many folks had problems similar to what you've been experiencing, with little help until the release of MCE 2005. Sorry I haven't been able to be of much help to you. If you continue to work on these issues, you may benefit from opening a New Topic here with your then current questions. Perhaps another Tech Member will be able to see some alternatives for you. Best Regards
