After a good nights sleep it came to me what I was doing wrong.
When I opened the D-Link configuration page at 192.168.0.10 and changed the address, I was not clicking on APPLY at the bottom of the page because I could not see it. APPLY correctly made the changes and corrected my problem. (I confess it was my fault.)
