I have gone to add/remove programmes but it is not there, when I go to the start menu and click on uninstall it states I can only uninstall existing programmes. (even though it is there) I have just recently done a repair and formatt of the hardrive so thats maybe why its not picking it up from the add/remove programmes. I have a slight problem with google earth so wanting to uninstall and then re install it. Using window xp pro sp2 help appreciated. thanks
This isn't help from a professional, but here we go: Click on "My Computer" > "Local Disk (C:)" > "Program Files" > "Google"(or something with a similar name) Then, delete any file that has to do with Google Earth. Once this has been done, empty your recycle bin. You might want to wait for an expert here to respond, first.
I thought of doing that but have always been advised to uninstall rather than delete. I will wait to see what other advice I get , if nothing then may try and install again which might give me the uninstall option again. If that fails the delete it is. thanks for replying.

You are right about the advise about not removing a program by just deleting "named" folders. A installed program can install pieces of itself in thousands of places in many different names. You never usually get or find all of the pieces of it. What gets left of a random removal can cause more problems that just leaving it in place.

Only way you can do that sort of thing is having the maker of the application spell out for you where those pieces are or provide you a utility to do it automatically for you.

Speaking of the maker of a application, Google earth has a uninstall/reinstall routine.

How do I uninstall Google Earth?

Regards and Good luck
