My Hijacked Internet Explorer

About a year ago, my Internet explorer was hijacked. Since then, I have been able to defeat the hijacker by using the Content control feature, but that approach is both tedious and time consuming. The hijacking occurs when an attempt is made to go to an ad website. As example, when I linked to the espn web site prior to creating this log, internet explorer attempted to link to http://67.15.114.79/ad... When I cancelled the attempt using content control, the IE attempted to link to http://ads.espn.adsonar.co... When I cancelled this attempt, IE stabilized on the espn site, which was visible throughout the two cancellations. Hope you can help me fix this problem. Here is my HijackThis logfile.

Reply From Jerry100 (I assume this is where I'm to reply):

That seemed to do the trick. It also fixed a problem I had with the video player on the FoxNews web site.
Thanks loads!! A couple of comments: (1) HostsXpert has a series of buttons arranged vertically down the left side, and one is a button for setting the files to Read-Only. I went to their website and discovered that the button is for toggling back and forth between Read-Only and Write. I did not click the button. (2) I received an error message when HijackThis fixed the selected files - something about a file name being incorrect. I ignored the message. (3) I clicked on the Donation button on the ATF window but nothing happened.
Again, thanks for your help - the instructions were very clear and concise.

You want the host file to be read only unless you are making changes.

You can remove any programs I had you install. Use Add/Remove Programs to remove if listed there:

Log looks good :D

You need to create a new Clean restore point.

Note: This will remove all previous Restore Points

Turn off System Restore:

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Restart your computer, turn it back on.

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Remove the Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Check "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, Uncheck "Show hidden files and folders."
Check "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.

If you dont have any programs like these, I would recommend that you get them.
Spywareblaster,
Spywareguard.

Also get a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

Only run one Anti-Virus and Firewall program.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on. Both are available below.

Do not use Ad-aware if you have McAfee's VirusScan and AntiSpyware

Safe Surfing. :D

I would also suggest you read this:
So how did I get infected in the first place?
