Hmm, this is weird
When i went to update it , it went off the installation page.. So i uninstalled it and went to re-install it , but as i'm doing it, it goes off the installation page and wont let me install it.
Not sure what is up here, i don't think any other program is doing this. Just spybot.
Hi Bizzy,
This is weird, do you get any other symptons of viral/spyware activity? if so it's time for an HJT log and a post in the other forum.

Otherwise try a reboot, then an uninstall via Control Panel Add & Remove etc
Then do a clean up using C Cleaner and as well as deleting all the junk stuff run the "issues" part of C Cleaner and then another reboot and then a fresh download and install of Spybot. See how you go and let us know what happens.

Hi Paws,
thanks for the help. I did all you said and it still wont install Spybot. I have noticed no other problems that i think are due to spyware/viruses. I think only Spybot is affected. Not sure where to go from here
Certainly is weird!
Whilst I put my thinking cap on, have a look here: http://ict.cas.psu.edu/training/howto/util/removespybot.htm
Maybe there are some leftover elements that if you search for you can delete and then this should facilitate the install.
Can you tell us the exact error message you get when you try and install (or exactly what happens?)

thanks alot for that link. I deleted the actual folder out of the C drive. I've already uninstalled it. So i don't know what's going on?
About the actual error: there's no error message. Basically i click the installation EXE for spybot and it comes up and when i click on 'yes', next,
the installation page closes, therefore i cannot continue installing it.
It's really weird. Never had anything like this before. It's always been straightforward install/uninstall.
Hi,
I reckon it's time to do an HJT log and post it on the other forum, but just before you do, try running the Windows SFC
Start>Run> sfc /scannow
Have your Windows installation disc handy, next restart your computer.
then try the Windows installer clean up tool from here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
restart your machine.
Run Ccleaner again (include "issues" clean up
Try the installation again, if you can get as far as choosing the directory for installation choose something other than the default directory offered.
Otherwise try the HJT route!

thanks Paws i'll try this in the morning when i've got the time.
cheers for all the help. Sorry to come with a problem that's…….well…..the most strange one i've come across!
