Wonder if someone could help please?
Very recently I go into this site, http://www.wavelit.com/index.asp?ch=Wildlife&sh=africam#
it soon loads and I was watching live from Africa the animals in the park. Just the last two days the sound works, but the picture has a pinkish coloured stripe down the left hand side about 1/4 inch wide or a bit less, and the rest of the screen is black.
If I leave that page loaded, and go into a second explorer page, load the site again, the second site works. Then I close the first explorer page that did not work and all is well. WHY I wonder?
I am running Internet Explorer 6.0 XP/SP2
Has anyone any idea what is causing this please? When I first found this URL all was fine, but as I said the above problem has just started to happen.

Thanks and a Happy New Year to you all. :)
Hi Tallin, I have just tried the site you mention to see if I could replicate the problem, but as far as I can see the site id "down" at the moment. (Using an old P3 800 Mhz running Windows 2K, with IE 6 of course!) Are sure its not a flamingo walking in front of the camera?…tee hee! Sorry about that! I will try and post back a more sensible reply when the site comes back on line. Regards paws
Thanks Paws for your hilarious reply! I have the site up now, but only the water hole, no movement. I can still only get it going opening a second Internet Explorer page.

You did make me laugh, and I assure you it is not a Flamingo, I did a print screen to send you but the stripe down the left hand side did not show. (Perhaps that Flamingo moved)

Will hope you can solve this for me.

Dough is on holidays which is well deserved I think.

Regards and thanks again.

Hi Tallin, I had another look at the site…magnificent, a gazelle (or some sort of small deer like antelope) was drinking at the waterhole and the image was breathtaking… I was just hoping that no predator would turn up… I don't think I could bear that. I regret to say I have no idea what could cause the pink stripe in one IE6 Window but not in another. The fact that you get a perfect image when you close the first Window indicates that not a lot can be wrong with your system. To take a leaf out of the medic's book, I suggest you treat the condition conservatively and observe a "wait and watch" approach as it may resolve itself spontaneously. (after half a dozen reboots or so!) Regards paws
Hi again Tallin, I forgot to mention, thanks for the info about Dough. I have realised what a tremendous amount of work that guy does, how much research he carries out and what a competent, knowledgable, chap he is, who gives so freely of his time and expertise. I have been trying to fill in on the forum whilst he's away and I'm worked off my feet! My workload is just a tiny fraction of his…so just thought his sterling work should be recorded somewhere, somehow… Regards paws
<_< Thanks Paws for your two replies. Glad you like the site. We, that is Dough and I watched for 2 hours or more a real lion kill a couple of days ago. How nature works at its most DRAMATIC. Guess I have changed a setting around the place in some way but can't remember what. I always write down anything I change too. Yes, Dough is a marvel, deserves a good rest, although I bet he is working on something out there as I can't see him lying on a beach in his part of the world. Would be pleased of any help you hear along the way, and are you still of the same opinion re Internet Explorer 7.0 as you were the last time I talked to you here? BUT you are almost the same as he is, I have been watching TC while he is away and Yes you are worked off your feet, and others doing their best. Cheers and thanks again
Hi Tallin, I'm glad I didn't see the lion doing its stuff, (I'm just an old softie at heart. Long live herbivores is my motto!) I have been wracking my brains about your video problem but can't come up with anything…sorry…I guess we will need to wait until Doug comes back, he's sure to know. Yes all my computers now (apart fom this last one (a Time lappy with XP Home and IE6) have been upgraded to IE 7 with no problems. Having said that I have one running Win98se, one with Win ME and one Win2000 and these are no good for IE 7 anyway. (I have to keep all these as a lot of my customers run old kit and I need to keep up to speed on how to fix them when they bring 'em in. Regards paws
:D Guess Paws who solved my maddening problem? DOUGH - He is a genius, after hours working on it after his arrival home from holidays this was the result. Go to Display/advanced/troubleshooting/ change hardware acceleration to none or just above none/click OK That was it, Dough emphasis's that the problem is not fixed, he only changed settings, but at least it got me going. I don't know about that however, I am really appreciative I can tell you all.
Comment: Theoretically, you have updated your graphics driver, have the correct Monitor driver, and correct Video Display settings for your monitor. They should work together happily. All I did was to have you "slow them all down" so they wouldn't run over each other as they functioned together. Lowering "Acceleration" will sometimes allow useable video presentation/display, even when a graphics card/driver problem is at the root. I'm curious about the Video Display setting of 60 frames per second. That seems slow to me and possibly contributing to the problem. You have an LCD monitor so it should "demand" the correct settings, but I'd have to read up on that particular monitor to make sense of it. My guess is that the default cycles would be closer to 70. Best Regards
Hi Tallin, Good old Doug I knew he would come up trumpts. Glad you have lost the "flamingo" The solution was so obvious….so obvious in fact that I completely failed to see it!! I only realised how obvious it was after Doug had provided the solution!!!!! Regards paws ps I loved the flow chart, its the only one I ever use!
Paws, Just a final post on Dough and his knowledge. You know he spent hours on that problem with me giving of most of his afternoon and evening. There was a lull in proceedings and then all of a sudden he came up with the answer out of the blue. I guess he was mulling it all over or reading his books - I really don't know just what he was doing, but he did it and that is all that counts. Yes the flow chart was certainly a scream, I agree. You know that Flamingo, well I can get it back if I slide towards the right a little too far! Never Happy New Year to you. :wavey:
