i developed a sound problem so i ran hikack this and made a post in the malware section. http://forums.whatthetech.com/index.php?showtopic=113514. i thought maybe i got infected and a virus was causeing me problems. when we finished, i still had the sound problem so he asked me to make a post in the hardware section to see if i can get help. while i've been waiting, i've been reading other posts to see if i can find a similar problem. one post mentioned pcpitstop and i remember going there a couple times, so i went to check them out again.
i went to start their scan and i got a popup bar at the top of the screen. so when i went to click on it to let the download start, it didn't. it told me there was an error and gave me some suggestions as to what i needed to do to get it to work. i tried everything they had listed and still nothing. but i was noticing something that has happened before. IE would stall for like 2-3 seconds then i'd see a error bubble coming from the IE tab at the top of the screen and it would say something like IE encountered an error and the tab was reset. i've always thought it was a glitch with a certain website. but after numerous tries at pcpitstop and the same tab errors, and after i turned alot of stuff off, i finally got pcpitstop to go futher and start the download to run it's program, but then i got the tab error again. i tried for like 30 minutes to run pcpitstop and never got it to work.
so now i'm wondering if my sound and the IE tab reset are 2 problems that might be linked together. 9/10 times IE resets the tab and i can view what i wanted to view. the other times i get a IE screen that tells me it cannot connect to the website i was browsing and i get a blank page. nothing ever freezes up or reboots except the page i am viewing. there is no warning, and it doesn't happen all that much. i just click on a link or arrow to the next page and then bam, it resets. it looks like it is gunna load the page, but then it pauses for 2-3 seconds then resets. does this additional info help any?
