Everytime I start my PC the message "drwtsn32.exe needs to be closed" pops up. It freezes the PC for a while and the disables my Norton Anti-virus and the spyware guard. Can anyone help me fix this problem?
Dr Watson, a useful utility embedded in your Windows operating system appears when your machine develops a system file/configuration problem and is used to alert the owner/user of the problem, as well as to provide information to send to Microsoft or other remote assistance resource/ forum for assistance. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308538
In your particular case, the good news is that drwtsn32.exe is on alert to notify you of any problems.
But the bad news is that it is probably alerting you to a problem!.
Take a look in drwtsn.log for information about what problem is being identified.
Alternatively take a look in your event viewer for information relative to system problems.
Unless you've already "fixed" the identified problem on which drwtsn32.exe alerted, you should investigate thoroughly.
Just turning off drwtsn32.exe would be like turning off the fire alarm because it was too noisie, but letting the house burn down. I'm not saying your machine is going to burn down, or even that the problem is terribly significant, but whatever it is should be fixed, or drwtsn32.exe will keep alerting on it.
I think the problem is grave enough. drwtsn32.exe prevents me from using Norton, Spywareblaster and Ad-Aware. Do you think u can help me on this one? I found the log file but it meant nothing to me.
I'd have to see it, to maybe help you.
In the meantime, have a look in your System Configuration Utility (MSCONFIG - StartUp)
to see if maybe drwtsn32.exe mistakenly got placed in your StartUp menu.
If it's there……. "disable it" by removing the checkmark(tick) from in front of the item.
Start - Run - (type)MSCONFIG - Select StartUp(tab)
If it's not there, don't worry, we'll get to it a different way.
Post the drwtsn Log.
Best Regards
