Hi, I am simply (or so I thought ) trying to download my photos on my computer to a cd. I have a CD-R and the photos in My Pictures folder on my computer. When I click on copy photos to cd, I get booted off & a blue screen appears that says Windows has encountered a problem and has closed to prevent damage to your computer… Am I an idiot?? Help! Thank You!
Hi, Sorry to hear of the problem of writing a photo to a cd (and No you're not an idiot!). The usual procedure, using the Windows XP inbuilt cd writing feature is to : 1 Click on My Documents 2 Click on My Pictures 3 Right Click on the picture you want to copy 4 Click on send to 5 Click on your cd recording device 6 Follow on screen directions. Note the Windows inbuilt cd writer will not rewrite to a CD-RW, for this you will need a proprietory burner such as Nero or Roxio etc) If the procedure outlined in 1-6 above causes Windows to shut down then you have some corrupted files in your system and you could try and use another cd burning programme such as Nero or Roxio (if fitted.) To check on your Windows Protected System files (and correct them) it would be wise to use the Microsoft System File Checker which comes included in your Windows XP operating system. 1 Click on Start 2 Click on Run 3 Type in: sfc /scannow (please note the space between the c and the forward slash is essential) The checker will run, (usually takes 20 minutes or so) and if it finds that any protected system files are corrupted, missing or in the wrong place it will attempt to fix them, be prepared to insert your Windows XP installation disc as Windows may ask you for this. Regards paws
