no windows update

hi. for reasons i don't know about…i can never use windows update.. it lets me start the installation but just doesn't go through with anything. doesn't even begin to download

To use MS updates, you may need to turn on Auto-updates via MSCONFIG StartUp(tab) and Services(tab). Have you ever completed the online Microsoft Windows Genuine Advantage Validation process ?

A better method for assuring that you have MS automatic updates enabled: Right-Click on My Computer - select Automatic Updates(tab) place a mark in - Automatic [recommended] Please report back if that Automatic item was/or was not already marked. Best Regards

yea the auto update is on in the msconfig and services tab but whenever i choose windows update…the page freezes. then when it actually goes throught the screen freezes on preparing downloads and jus stops from there. i went through the windows validation and everything was fine. i dnt kno wut else it could be. i ran ad-aware and nuttin..jus the usual cookies. mcaffe didnt even find nothing. and i did the reverse order u sent and yes the check mark was in the automatic update
