Ok, I'm desperate for help now. Usually I can figure out what spyware is affecting me, and I follow instructions on how to delete it. But this one has me stumped. It seems that every time something pops up, it's something different. I frequently get an Orbitz pop up though. I use Firefox, but all these popups happen in IE. I'll be browsing the web in Firefox, and IE will open, only to show a popup. It's VERY annoying. Any help is greatly appreciated! Here is my hijack this log:

Oh, and I forgot to mention… When I run hijack this, it says, I get the following error, and although it saves a log file, it closes the program immediatly. "Hijack This.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created."
I fixed my own problem with the program error by puting Hijack this in a different directory and renaming the file (saw that it was recommended on another forum). Here is my current log:

:D

But seriously, we aplogize for overlooking your log.

We normally look for posts with no replies.

Disable Microsoft Windows Defender:
We need to disable your Microsoft Windows Defender Real-time Protection as it may interfere with the fixes that we need to make.
  • Open Microsoft Windows Defender. Click Start, Programs, Windows Defender
  • Click on Tools, General Settings.
  • Under Real-time protection options, unselect the Turn on real-time protection check box
  • Click Save
After all of the fixes are complete it is very important that you enable Real-time Protection again.

CLOSE ALL WINDOWS (even this one) AND PROGRAMS!!!!

Run Hijack This!
Click "Do a systen scan only".
Then "check" the box to the left of these item(s):

Reboot in normal mode and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis! log file into this thread. :)
Well yesterday I got home from work only to discover that the problem had gotten so bad that I couldn't even open Firefox without the computer trying to restart on me and 4 million popups.

So I installed Norton and did a full system scan, and it found like 20 viruses (virii?). Anyway, I cleaned them all then uninstalled Norton because it conflicts with my wireless card, plus it takes an hour to boot up with that stuff running.

So I did all that, then followed your instructions. Here is my current HJT log:

Disable Microsoft Windows Defender:
We need to disable your Microsoft Windows Defender Real-time Protection as it may interfere with the fixes that we need to make.
  • Open Microsoft Windows Defender. Click Start, Programs, Windows Defender
  • Click on Tools, General Settings.
  • Under Real-time protection options, unselect the Turn on real-time protection check box
  • Click Save
After all of the fixes are complete it is very important that you enable Real-time Protection again.

Download Killbox from here:

Did you get any errors during the last fix?

Let's try a different approach.

Download VundoFix.exe to your desktop from here:

VundoFix.exe

CLOSE ALL WINDOWS (even this one) AND PROGRAMS!!!!

1. Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
2. Click the Scan for Vundo button.
3. Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
4. If it doesn't find anything, in the main program window, choose "Add more files?".
Type the next line into the box EXACTLY AS SHOWN:

C:\WINNT\Web\sissmvc.dll

Click Close Window, then Remove Vundo.

5. You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES.
6. Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
7. When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
8. Turn your computer back on.

Post a new HijackThis! log, along with the contents of this file:

C:\vundofix.txt

into this thread.
:)
I did get an error on that last fix, but I don't remember what it said. However, I got an error on this fix as well, and I wrote it down this time. It said this:
"Cannot import C:\WINNT\Vundofix.reg: Error opening the file. There may be a disk or file system error."
