we just finished cleaning out the hard drive of our children's computer. It is strictly used for games and their school projects. It does not have internet access. When we put in Lego rock raiders we get an error message of "no directx 3d accelerator found". I have checked the computer it shows we have s3 savage 4 video card.
Can anyone point us in the right direction. This game did work previous to cleaning the hard drive. We used KILL disk to clean it up. Everything is working wel.
9.0c is the version of DirectX that most XP users now have installed, and runs well on Win98, WinME, Win2000.
If the machine you are referring to runs on Win95 you will be better served running DirectX 8.0, download here: http://www.softwarepatch.com/windows/directx-80a.html
Download, Burn to a CD, Insert CD in Kids computer, Install from the saved files on the CD.
Best Regards
By the way, In the event that you did a reformat and reinstallation of the Windows Operating System in the process of cleaning up this machine for your children, please remember that it is important to Install the ChipSet Drivers immediately upon completing the Windows OS installation. Lots of problems will be solved with the installation of the ChipSet drivers.
You can download the Chipset Drivers at the computer's manufacturer website.
You can also download copies of most of the other necessary drivers for original cards and peripherals that would put the machine back into original "out of the box" condition.
