Greetings all, On my Laptop I turned off automatic updates and somehow made it stop reminding me that I have turned it off (you know, a little bubble popping up from the system tray saying "Your computer might be at risk, windows updates have bee turned off…") Now my wife's laptop has updates tuned off and I cant remember how I made the bubble stop telling me that I have done it. Anyone know how this is done? Its windows XP SP2. Thanks
Congrats on getting that damned bubble turned off, they can be persistant little buggers! A quick and sleazy way could be to restore automatic updates and then shut them off again, betcha that bubble comes back! Control Panel/Security Center and you should find a button saying 'turn on automatic updates'. If it's just the bubble you want go back and disable updates again
I use a program called Tweak UI. I believe it was recommended by another user in another forum here. It is great for adding little custom things to XP that you'd think no one would think of.
