I'm confused. I don't understand what we're doing. It seems we're just creating a restore point. What do I do next? I sort of understood your earlier instructions about turning off and on the System Restore. After I create my own Restore Point what does that do for us?

That gets rid of any bad guys hidding out in the system restore. Until you flush old restore points, they can still cause problems. Once you have created a NEW restore point this will remove anything there. You will have a new CLEAN restore point to use if you ever need to restore. If we left the OLD restore points and you restore back to the OLD one, you'll be infected again.

I created the restore point like you asked. I also ran Ad-Aware but it came up clean so I don't know whether it was going to hang up or not. I guess I'll leave it as is for now. Unless you suggest we do anything else. If I should have a problem down the road is there a way to get back to you with our previous notes so we don't have to re-invent the wheel or do you have another idea?

Just get those programs I posted. SpyWare Blaster, Spyware Guard,
SpyBot and Ad-Aware and keep them updated.

I have Spybot and Ad-Aware. I just added Spyware Blaster and went through that ok. However, I added Spyware Guard and tried to double click the icon on the desktop but it wouldn't open. I also tried to get to it from the little icon on the bottom and through Start and All Programs. When I downloaded the program I also put an auto update icon on my desktop and that worked fine. I just can't get into the program itself to run it. Can you help?

Did it put a ICON down on the taskbar. If so, it's running and active. Right clicking the ICON will allow you to close it. If it's not working, you can use add/remove programs and remove. It's not that important anyway.

Yes, there is an icon on the taskbar. So I guess it's working. Usually these programs are run when you command them to and then they show you their results. I thought this might be the same way but I can't get into this. I don't even know how to update it. Maybe it automatically updates itself. Is is like Spybot or AdAware in that manner or does it run it the background and requires no user interaction?

I think when you installed it you let it automatically update and it does run in the background.
