Working on a friends computer, her kids friend 'fixed' the virus that was preventing booting. Reinstalled xp, installed a new version of norton internet security (she is a non-computer person), currently IE is always being redirected to HTTP:/// from any destination (ie. www.google.com; www.yahoo.com) after the portal page appears. She cannot access the internet, althought Microsoft registration and Symantec registration succeeded. Any Suggestion? Do I have to carry Hijack over to her house?

This is typically the result of winpack. Yes, post a log in the HijackThis Forum.
