We have an HP Laserjet MFP 4345 Scanner in our office. When we use the scanner feeder to scan to our ether-connected network (accessed in a folder on our two computers), we find the resulting PDF scan can't be opened. We use Windows 10 computers and this problem might have something to do with the fact that HP MFP and the Windows 10 computers are running on different OS.
The resulting error message depends on whether the scan results into a zero kilobyte scan or a multi-kilobyte scan that won't open. See below:
SCAN ERROR MESSAGE (Appears when the scan equates to zero kilobytes) :
Adobe Acrobat Reader could not open ‘[name of scanned file.pdf]’ because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn’t correctly decoded).
ALTERNATE SCAN ERROR MESSAGE (Error message appears to show up when the scanned document is of an appropriate kilobyte size – ex. The listed size says the document is 345 kb but the doc still won’t open):
There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired.
Our goal is to be able to scan multi-paged documents and easily access them on our computer. The other confusing thing about this scan problem is that sometimes, the scanned PDF opens up just fine, even if the first time, we got an error message. Can anyone explain how we can fix this issue? Thanks.
