I just purchased a new Lenovo Flex 14 laptop and need to load MS Office. I have a Office 2016 disk that I previously purchased. MS is offering to enable for $100, the Office suite that comes with the laptop.  Should I remove this office suite (the one that comes with the laptop) and then load my disk?

Your thoughts would be valuable.

Thank you

Hello solo58,

Should I remove this office suite (the one that comes with the laptop) and then load my disk?

I would not uninstall anything for the time being, do you have the product key for your Office 2016 disk, if yes, has the product key already been used.

See Download and install or reinstall Office 2016 or Office 2013 info here

1.  Yes, I have another disk with the product key that was unused.

2.  So you're saying leave the Lenovo software for now.

3.  How can I easily transfer data from my old laptop to my new one?

Because the computer is new I suspect that it is the Lenovo Ideapad Flex 6 (14-inch) which has no optical drive for installing the program, this means that you will have to create a Microsoft account and download Office 2016, all the info that you need is available at the link that was previously provided in my reply #2.

Yes leave the Lenovo software for now and up until you have Office 2016 up and running.

It depends what data you want to transfer, music, pictures and videos can be safely copied across but programs will have to be clean installed, the capacity of the storage device on the computer needs to be considered, if it is only 256GB you should consider getting yourself an external USB hard drive.

I got a optical disk drive and connected via a usb port.

I removed the MS Office applications from the windows, then loaded my old MS Office 2010.

It works...

But I'm now receiving invitations from Lenovo about using their security system.  The default I have is Defender.  Is that good enough or should I use Lenovo's app?

What Lenovo security system would that be, Ive only ever come across Lenovo ThinkShield and Lenovo promote Windows Defender when running Windows 10, see info here

Glad to hear that MS Office is up and running as well btw.

It's a brief pop up, suggesting Lenovo's security.  I'm afraid to click on it

Yes. I'll try the wired installation set up first.
