Hi everyone i reset my computer to factory settings and it stopped freezing. However past couple days its louder than normal and sounds like it is working really hard and it froze on me yesterday.

Hi ashvas and welcome to our forums,

:welcome:

Sorry to hear of the problems you have experienced with freezing and an increased sound levels.

Performing a "factory restore" ( providing its done correctly!) usually solves a multitude of problems, however it's suggested you check the following:

1 Make sure that all Windows updates are downloaded and installed and the computer rebooted. ( after you have done this its important to check again for more updates( you may need to do this a lot of times before you can be sure that it is fully updated, so keep updating, rebooting until you receive two consecutive messages that there at no further updates available

Note: you do not say the make or model number of your computer, the operating system you are using and the level of service pack installed, and what peripheral equipment you have attached, so we can only provide generic advice, but for an example after a "factory restore"  some machines may need several hundred updates to be downloaded and installed and this may involve a couple of days constant downloading and installing.

2 As well as Windows updates check that you have all current drivers installed, visit the manufacturer's website and download and install the chipset drivers, video drivers, audio drivers ( install them in that order with a reboot in between each installation

3 Double check that your anti virus and firewall was fully updated and has provided you with protection for your machine right from the moment the restore to factory was completed.

4  check that the internal components of your computer are clean, free from dust and particulates that may have settled out of the atmosphere,

5 check BIOS ( UEFI) to make sure you have the latest version, but don't automatically effect an update unless you are experienced in this or without advice….

6 Whilst you are looking at the BIOS make sure that cooling fans are set to correct values (if applicable) and you may be able to check temperatures in some BIOS to see if they are reasonable and indicate cooling system(s) is effective.

7 A quick and simple check to see if most of your hardware is in reasonable shape is to download a copy of a live distro of Linux ( Puppy is good), burn the .iso as an image and boot from it ( you may need to look at boot priority in the BIOS and disable secure boot in UEFI for this test)…. Puppy will run quite happily in RAM and not write anything to your hard drive unless you ask it to. Connect to the Internet using an Ethernet cable twixt your computer and router and you should be able to see if the freezing and increased sound levels are solved with Puppy…

( If Puppy runs Ok without problems then its indicating that your hardware is probably OK and that the problem lies with either Windows or your software, wheras if the problems persist then its likely a hardware issue….. at least it will tell us where best to focus our attention.

Post back with as much information as you can and we will do our best to assist you.

Regards
