During the February 19 updates, Windows Defender failed to install.
I cannot find it and have run the troubleshooter.
What else can I do?
My OS is Win 8.1 64 bit.

No Windows Defender in Control Panel (change View by to large or small icons to see)?
I had forgotten to look there and change views. Thank you for that.
Unfortunately, KB2267602, 1.193.158.0, 2-19-15 is not there either.
I Googled it and it appears I am not the only one with it to one degree or the other.
I went to the action center and ran the trouble shooter there which said it fixed something. I then checked for updates and that update was listed as just installed.
Do you (did you) add CCEnhancer to CCleaner? It has a section on Windows Defender cleanup that needs to be unchecked. I dumped it right after I started using it, did to good a job of deleting stuff.
I used to use Ccleaner, and Revo but occasionally would drop a valid file. I now never use a cleaner of any sorts and prefer to allow a few orphans to accumulate with add remove.
I appreciate the warning and I am sure others will take note of the caveat. I hope your damage was minimal although knowing you, I am sure you recovered just fine.
Could you tell me what the "WinApp2.ini system" Ccleaner uses, is?
WinApp2.ini???
No idea. I don't have that file on my computer anywhere.
Thank you for the clarification; after researching Ccleaner I noticed it and wanted more information about it for learning purposes.
