Hello

I noticed the rollup is 300+ MBs.

Are you installing it as it is optional. I read that it is advisable to remedy some things that may have occurred since last April but I really know very little about this update. Space is not a factor.

Thank you

I installed it. No problems. Since it is a roll up, if you have been regularly installing the updates as they come out, there is probably little this update does. But I would install it any way just so Windows Update does not keep yelling at you to install it.

I am still using 8.1 on both machines.

I noticed the roll up was 700 +  not 300 +  but did it to both anyway.  I used Macrium again but, still retain the original image, since reinstallation with the 8.1 disc, someone was nice enough to send me the iso for. :adios:

If one can believe what is read, it I supposed to fix some of the issues since the last one in April.

PS People say Windows is flawed but after using Android/Google phones, Windows is a logical, functional O.S..

I would have gotten Cortana etc. but the Galaxy S 5 read well and I can take it apart to use a second battery, which I do on occasion. Can't wait for Lollipop 5.0 in Dec/Jan to move more to the SD card etc.

Excuse the digression.

PS People say Windows is flawed

Windows is huge! It has several millions lines of code. There are bound to be some flaws. But note some people are so anti-Microsoft or anti-Windows that they will always say it is flawed.

I'm still lost. What rollup? Do you mean Update 1 for 8.1?

I clicked on the roll up in my history of updates and right clicking it gave me the opportunity to get more information which describes it as a roll up which improved Win 8.1.

I had 45 updates installed on 11/17/2014. That must have been the roll up.

Peter, what do you mean by: I clicked on the roll up in my history of updates

I see no mention of roll up in Update History.

Edit: Nope, the 45 were updates to Office 2010 after I reinstalled it.

On mine, it just says, "Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB3000850). Then if you look at that KB (see my link above) it says "Roll-up".
