P2P

Your vision is perfect and you are absolutely correct. I was looking at typical(medium) and missed default. Which is preferable is a good question.
Why would anyone want low security. I miss my simple modem and personal router but the triple play makes that a stretch.
Thank you for pointing that out.
Typical or default -boy is that confusing to me.
Have you heard there will be a Comcast cap Jan 1, 2014 at 250 GB? I read this at a forum and wondered if it is true?
How would that translate into time. I guess those in business would have to buy a business subscription but what about those whose only toys are the TV and pc? Reminds me of the old dial up days.
I hope it is just a rumor or that 250GB is a lot of online time.
Good to chat with you and thank you for pointing out the correction or oversight.
Peter
@Ztruker - I flipped the coin; default vs. typical and it came out, another isp.
I hear you though and thanks.
My eyesight is far from fine lol, it's going downhill like I am lol, mind you after 25 years I at least have a final diagnosis now, not that it makes a difference, but I can now hang a label on it, but it can only get worse, which is why when I first mentioned it I thought it strange that you saw something I didn't, but with my eyes I just figure there was something I was missing, but apparently not, at least on this occaision lol, glad it's helped.
But I agree the name does nothing to inspire confidence, maybe worth a call to note this to them ?
Maybe they have a better router now they would send due to this ? Worth a try maybe, added with a "finding a more secure ISP" may get a result for you, hope it works out for you anyway.
If I understand, you have some issue to deal with. I can relate and I wish you all the best, truly.
I contacted the ISP and all they could say was they would escalate me to a paid tier.
I wish all my problems were this serious. I am just sorry to have caused such a stir over semantics.
Stay well, and take one day at a time.
I wouldn't call it an issue as such, crud happens, and I deal with it, but it took them 25 years like this to figure I have a very rare form of dystrophy, but that's another story.
I hope they don't intend to charge you for that, and I certainly hope it makes a noticeable change for the better as well, if it does then you have probably got a result, fingers crossed for you.
I am not looking for them to compensate so I won't be disappointed.
Cancer took my kidney, lung and went to the bladder where I am being monitored. I was left with a conditioned called allodynia and CRPS for 14 years now. You are unfortunate to have your body plagued but having a dx enables one to cope better, e.g. meds, research, understanding and treatment.
One day at a time, in practice, makes a big difference. In my thoughts and p…..s.
Well like I said, hopefully you will be better off after this.
We lost the wife’s father to cancer, he had a lung removed, so have a pretty good idea what you’re going through, at the end he was on oxygen, but ultimately it took him, but I hope you’re staying in shape as they say, you don’t need to be pumping iron lol, just walking does a lot, it's all about helping the remaining lung compensate for the missing one, so it has a massive benefit if done right.
Pain for me isn't on most peoples scale, I have had constant pain for 20+ years, and have come up through all the drugs, went through most in weeks, I was having to take a day's worth to get out of bed, and I have yet to have a single pill sort it, but have managed to get a cocktail of several pain killers etc. that has been able to numb the pain, it's still there, but low enough to get through each day.
I have so many pills, the latest for blood pressure the other day lol, that if you shake me I'd probably sound like a tube of smarties lol, I dare say you’re not much different there, but I hope they are able to stop yours getting any worse, but you have to fight or it will beat you, so stay positive, anything less doesn't bare thinking of.
Like you, I am trying. I have not found the right protocol yet and have to wear an appliance of sorts or bear it. I am on a few potent meds and hate them until I try to taper down and am glad to have the side affects and all.
I am doing my bet as you are. I have a friend and he is worse off than me as are many so when I don't want to face the day or feel low I think of him and, relatively, appreciate I am who I am.
I agree that attitude has a lot to do with it and we will do ok - as they say in Australia, keep your pecker up.
I have found another to put on my pr…. list.
I'm somewhat lost.
Have you solved your P2P problem and was a P2P needed to download the information you desired?
@Layback Bear
I am really sorry to have digressed.
I do not know about P2P as it was not mentioned in the router's settings.
What I can tell you is that the default is weak and the typical is medium. To explain further, when the setting is medium, I cannot download the Dell manual but when the setting is weak, I can.
Sorry about the lack of P2 P information but it was not in the literature.
It is my feeling that P2P would be blocked with the medium setting.
no the problem wasn't anything related to p2p whatsoever.
we think the medium setting in the router blocks outgoing ftp connections, but when it's set to low everything worked fine and peter could download the required pdf files using dells ftp server.

Thank you for correcting me, Terry. I knew about ftp but forgot about P2P.
didn't mean it to sound like i was correcting you peter, i just wanted to explain what we think the problem finally was.
i think it's your medium router setting (seen in a screenshot you posted earlier.) that is confusing you, because all it says it blocks extra is p2p software, so that's why i think it got stuck in your mind it was a p2p problem in the first place.

I am happy to be corrected and others will benefit by the truth.
