First, I'll start by saying that I'm not sure if some of these problems shouldn't be put on the Internet forum.  It should be noted that these problems are happening on my wife's computer but if you continue to read you will understand why I'm asking the questions and not her.

About a month or so ago, she upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1.  Since that time the following has been happening.  When she boots her computer it automatically goes to the Windows Start screen.  However, when she goes to the desktop mode she gets the following two error messages.

Run DLL

Dolby Advanced Audio

Unable to start the Dolby audio driver

Run DLL

There was a problem starting c:\window\system32\LogiLDA.dll

The specified module could not be found

I would have to assume the above is a simple fix for you guys.

But the next problem is an odd one and may explain why I'm starting this forum message and not her.  Aside from being able to enter her password when she first starts her computer, she is unable to enter any password on any website.  When I told her to set up an account at What the Tech she couldn't because she couldn't type in the password field.  We've even tried using Kaspersky's virtual keyboard but it still has no affect.

Please help

Thanks

Hi Worldway,
It looks as though the upgrade may have failed in some important respects.
Before you try a "refresh" it might be worth trying two things:

1 Boot into safe mode with networking and see if this makes any difference(careful in safe mode as your protections will not be working efficiently or at all) if still no joy then:

2 Try setting up a new user account (full admin account) and see if this helps.

Let us know how you get on

I would like to apologize for not getting back to you sooner.  I have been out of town and as per my original post, it is my wife's computer. In the interest of not having this topic closed, please bear with me.  I'll try what you suggest and will get back to you shortly.

Thanks for your patience.

We booted in safe mode and everything was fine.  However when we went back to a normal boot the error messages continued.  We were going to try to set up a new user account but wasn't sure how to do it.

I should mention that unknown to me my wife did a reset, she removed the battery and held the power button down for 15 seconds (not sure what that would do).  She now has the ability to enter passwords.

Thanks for your help
