Help - Laptop Problems

Hey guys! So I don't have much luck with technology and I wasn't that surprised last night when I went to turn my laptop on and it wouldn't. The message coming up tells me something along the lines of "operating system not found". Do any of you know what could have caused this sudden break-down maybe? Or what I could do? Some context: I have dropped this laptop once, but that was over 4 years ago and it had been working well until last night. It's possible this was the cause, but isn't it strange that it has been working well for over 4 years? Any help would be appreciated! Thank you :)
